Your garage door opener light not turning off is usually caused by the manual light feature being activated, a motion sensor continuously triggering, or a logic board issue, rather than a problem with the bulb itself. The most common cause is that the light button on your wall control console has been pressed. On Chamberlain, LiftMaster, and Craftsman systems, pressing the light button turns the opener lights on and keeps them on continuously, overriding the automatic 4.5 minute timer. Press the light button again to turn off the continuous mode. The second common cause is the motion detector in the wall control. Many modern wall panels have a motion sensor that turns the light on when someone enters the garage. If you have a heater, fan, or even a pet that moves in the garage, it can keep triggering the motion sensor and keep resetting the timer so the light never turns off. Try turning off the motion detection feature in the wall control menu. Less commonly, the logic board may have a stuck relay or a failed timer circuit due to a power surge, causing the light socket to have constant power. If the light stays on even after unplugging the opener for a minute and plugging it back in, and after checking the wall button, the logic board may need replacement.
