If your LED bulb is not working with your garage door opener, you are likely experiencing one of two problems, either radio frequency interference that kills remote range or a bulb that is physically incompatible with the opener's electronics. First, determine the exact symptom. If the LED bulb lights up but your remote control only works from a few feet away or only when the light is off, the LED driver is emitting interference that blinds the opener's receiver. The fix is to replace the bulb with an LED specifically labeled garage door opener compatible or interference-free from brands like Genie, Chamberlain, or Feit. Look for bulbs that are FCC compliant and have shielded drivers. Avoid high-lumen corn cob LEDs and cheap no-name bulbs. Second, if the LED bulb does not light up at all, flickers, or burns out quickly, it may not be rated for the vibration and temperature extremes of a garage door opener. Garage door openers vibrate a lot and can shake a standard LED's internal solder joints loose. Use a rough service or vibration resistant LED. Also check that you are not exceeding the wattage rating and that the socket is not damaged. Some older openers with dimming features or light timers may not work well with non-dimmable LEDs, so try a different brand. If problems persist, you can use a rough service incandescent bulb as a reliable fallback.
