When your garage door opener light is not coming on, there are several possible causes ranging from a simple burned-out bulb to a logic board failure. Start with the obvious. The bulb may be burned out, especially if it is an incandescent that is sensitive to vibration. Try replacing it with a rough service or garage door opener compatible bulb and make sure it is screwed in tightly. Check that the bulb socket itself is not corroded or has a bent tab at the bottom that is not making contact. Next, check the opener's power. If the opener itself still operates the door but the light does not work, the issue is likely isolated to the light circuit. Many openers have a light lens cover with a small switch that disables the light if not seated correctly. Unplug the opener for 30 seconds to reset the logic board, because a power surge can cause the light relay to stick. Also check the wall control. If the light button on the wall panel is defective or the wire to the wall control is loose, the light may not respond. On some models, the motion sensor setting is turned off, so the light will not come on automatically. If none of these fix it, the light socket assembly or the main logic board's light relay may have failed and need replacement.
