To reset your garage door light, you need to reset both the manual override and the opener's logic board that controls the light timer. Start with the wall control inside your garage. Most LiftMaster, Chamberlain, Craftsman, and Genie systems have a light button on the wall console. If your light is stuck on continuously, pressing this light button once should turn it off and return it to automatic mode where it only stays on for about four and a half minutes after the door operates. If the light will not come on at all, press the button to ensure you have not accidentally turned it off manually. If that does not fix it, perform a full power cycle reset. Unplug the garage door opener motor unit from the ceiling outlet. If your opener has a battery backup feature, you must also disconnect the battery by unplugging its harness inside the light cover, otherwise the logic board still has power. Wait at least 60 to 90 seconds to allow the board's capacitors to drain and clear any fault. Reconnect the battery first, then plug the AC power back in. The opener should beep or flash. Now operate the door with a remote to test if the light comes on for its normal timed cycle and then shuts off. You can also adjust the timer via the wall panel menu if equipped.
