Traditional construction-grade plywood is frequently considered superior to Oriented Strand Board in applications requiring higher moisture resistance, better edge screw-holding capability, and smoother aesthetic finishes. While OSB is structurally strong and cost-effective for subfloors and wall sheathing, it tends to swell significantly along its edges if exposed to prolonged moisture and does not hold fasteners as securely as multi-ply softwood plywood. Furthermore, marine-grade or exterior-grade plywood offers vastly superior durability and water resistance compared to standard OSB panels in demanding environments.
