The abbreviation OSB most commonly refers to two entirely different concepts depending entirely on the context in which it is used. In the construction and building industry, OSB stands for Oriented Strand Board, an engineered wood panel made by compressing rectangular wood strands with waterproof adhesives. In religious, historical, and ecclesiastical contexts, OSB stands for Ordo Sancti Benedicti, which translates to the Order of Saint Benedict in Latin, representing the ancient monastic religious order founded by Saint Benedict of Nursia in the sixth century.
