Is security a good movie?

Is Security a good movie depends on expectations, as it is a low budget B action movie that delivers what it promises but does not aim for high art. The 2017 film starring Antonio Banderas as former Marine turned mall security guard and Ben Kingsley as villain received mixed to negative reviews from critics, holding around 20 to 30 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, criticized for cliché plot about small team defending location from mercenaries, similar to Die Hard in a mall, thin character development, and uneven acting, with some noting Kingsley appears disengaged. However, audiences who enjoy straightforward action films found it entertaining as popcorn movie, praising Banderas's committed performance, practical stunts, tense night time atmosphere, and satisfying underdog story where outgunned guards use improvised traps. If you like Die Hard style siege movies, mall cop turns action hero, and do not expect complex story, it is enjoyable guilty pleasure with decent action choreography for low budget. If you expect prestige thriller or strong writing, it will disappoint. So it is good for fans of B action, not good for critics seeking originality, best viewed as Sunday afternoon action flick.
