Is security 2017 a good movie?

Is Security 2017 a good movie depends on expectations, it is a low budget action thriller starring Antonio Banderas as a former special forces veteran who takes a mall security job and must protect a young girl from mercenaries led by Ben Kingsley, and reception is mixed to negative among critics but more forgiving among action fans. On review aggregators, it has low critics score around 25 to 30 percent, criticized for predictable plot, formulaic Die Hard in a mall premise, limited character development, and uneven action choreography, with some noting it wastes strong cast. However, for viewers who enjoy B-grade action, straight to video style films, it has redeeming qualities, Banderas gives earnest performance, action scenes are decent for budget, pacing is fairly brisk at 92 minutes, and it delivers familiar beats of lone hero protecting child against heavily armed villains. If you like movies like Die Hard, The Protector, or other mall siege films and do not expect high production value, you may find it entertaining as a popcorn action film. If you expect critically acclaimed thriller, you will likely be disappointed. It is best suited for casual action viewing on streaming.
