Can your neighbor legally point a camera at your house is a common dispute, and generally yes, your neighbor can point a security camera at their own property even if it incidentally captures part of your house, yard, or public street, as long as it is for legitimate security purpose and does not specifically target private areas with voyeuristic intent. Courts generally hold that there is no reasonable expectation of privacy in areas visible from public or from neighbor's property, such as front yard, driveway, or exterior of house. However, neighbor cannot point camera directly into private interior spaces where you have reasonable expectation of privacy such as bedroom windows, bathroom windows, or inside house with zoom lens with intent to harass or spy, that may violate privacy laws and constitute harassment or voyeurism. Some states and HOAs have restrictions. If neighbor's camera is clearly aimed at your private spaces and causing harassment, you can document, talk to neighbor, check local ordinances, contact HOA, or consult attorney about nuisance or privacy invasion. You can also install privacy fences, curtains, and window film. For doorbell cameras and general security cameras that happen to capture your house while monitoring their own, that is typically considered legal and not actionable.
