To fix a squeaky garage door, you need to spray lubricant in very specific places where metal moves against metal, not everywhere. Start with the rollers. Spray directly into the ball bearing area in the center of each roller and where the roller stem goes into the hinge, giving each roller a short one-second burst while spinning it by hand. Next, spray the hinges. Each hinge has a pivot point in the middle where it bends as the door goes up. Spray that pivot and the side where the hinge attaches to the door panel. Third, spray the bearing plates. These are the flat plates on either side of the torsion spring tube above the door where the shaft spins. Spray where the shaft meets the plate. Fourth, spray the torsion spring itself lightly along the top of the coils, not heavily drenching it, so the coils can slide against each other smoothly as they wind. If you have extension springs, spray the pulleys that the cable runs over. For the opener, if you have a chain drive, spray the chain lightly along its length, and if you have a screw drive, spray the screw. Do not spray the tracks heavily, do not spray the cables, and do not spray the sensor lenses. Wipe off excess after spraying.
