Bed bugs can live in latex mattresses, but latex mattresses are more resistant to bed bugs and dust mites than traditional innerspring or memory foam mattresses due to properties of latex. Natural latex is hypoallergenic, resistant to dust mites, mold, and mildew because it is dense and less hospitable, but bed bugs can still live in seams, cracks, and on surface of any mattress including latex if introduced, as bed bugs feed on human blood and hide in mattress seams, bed frame, and bedding, not inside foam itself. Latex mattress has fewer seams and is solid foam, so provides fewer hiding places than innerspring with tufts and seams, making it less attractive to bed bugs, but not bed bug proof. No mattress is completely bed bug proof. To prevent bed bugs in latex mattress, use encasement cover designed for bed bugs that zips around mattress, wash bedding regularly in hot water, vacuum mattress and bed frame, and inspect. So bed bugs can live in latex mattresses if introduced, but latex is more resistant than other types due to dense structure and natural resistance to dust mites, but still requires protective encasement and good hygiene to prevent infestation.
