Although Nigeria possesses massive organic waste resources and agricultural potential, widespread adoption of biogas technology has been constrained by a lack of government infrastructural investments, high initial setup costs for individual digesters, and easy market access to heavily subsidized fossil fuels like kerosene and domestic LPG. Furthermore, cultural hurdles regarding handling waste slurries, inadequate technical training facilities, and unreliable maintenance support networks have historically slowed commercial scaling across rural and urban communities.
