Filling biogas into high-pressure portable cylinders is entirely possible and forms the basis of purified commercial Bio-CNG or Compressed Biogas (CBG) distribution. However, raw biogas cannot be compressed directly into standard cooking gas cylinders without extensive upgrading; it must first undergo scrubbing to remove corrosive hydrogen sulfide and moisture, followed by carbon dioxide stripping to elevate methane purity above 90%, after which specialized compressors fill heavy-duty composite or steel cylinders at high pressures.
