Energy equivalence calculations indicate that roughly 2 to 2.3 cubic meters (approx. 2000 to 2300 liters) of raw biogas are required to match the thermal heating energy provided by 1 kilogram of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). Because raw biogas contains a mixture of methane and carbon dioxide with a lower calorific value than refined petroleum gases, larger volumetric quantities must be burned through specialized burners to achieve equivalent cooking or heating performance.
