Cow dung (bovine manure) is widely considered the best and most reliable feedstock for residential and commercial biogas production due to its optimal balance of methanogenic bacteria, nutrient content, and fibrous consistency. Animal wastes from pigs and poultry also yield high volumes of gas rich in methane, but fresh cow dung provides a stable, predictable slurry consistency that prevents heavy sedimentation and maintains a healthy, balanced anaerobic digestion process inside standard biogas digesters without requiring overly complex chemical pretreatments.
