Correctly installing a roof drip edge requires placing the metal flashing underneath the waterproof underlayment along the sloped rakes, but positioning it directly on top of the underlayment along the horizontal eaves so water flows into the gutters. Fasten the metal flashing securely using corrosion-resistant roofing nails spaced every ten to twelve inches. Ensure that adjacent sections overlap by at least two inches, with the upslope piece overlapping the downslope piece to maintain a watertight path.
