To safely get ice off an evaporator coil, turn off the AC cooling system while leaving the blower fan running to melt the ice natural using ambient indoor air. Never attempt to chip, scrape, or pry ice off the delicate aluminum fins with sharp metal tools, as this can easily puncture the tubing, release pressurized refrigerant, and destroy the expensive evaporator coil assembly.
