When to not use white dove? White Dove OC-17 by Benjamin Moore is popular warm white, but there are times not to use it. Do not use White Dove when room has very low natural light and already feels yellow or dingy, as its warm creamy undertone with slight yellow can make dark north-facing rooms look more yellow or dirty rather than bright, in which case crisper white like Chantilly Lace or Pure White may be better. Do not use White Dove if you want stark modern cool white look, as White Dove is soft warm, not stark. Do not use White Dove when trim and cabinets are very cool blue-white, as warm white next to cool white can look yellow and clash. Do not use White Dove on exterior in very bright sun if you want true bright white, as it may look creamy. Do not use White Dove if fixed elements like countertops or tile have cool gray undertones that clash with warm cream. Also, in rooms with lots of warm wood, White Dove may add too much warmth and look yellow. In those cases, cooler or cleaner white may be better.
