Before pouring any self-leveling compound, thorough surface preparation is required to ensure a successful and durable installation. First, the subfloor must be thoroughly cleaned of all dust, dirt, grease, paint, wax, or loose debris using a heavy-duty vacuum and scraper. Next, any cracks, holes, or gaps in the subfloor must be patched with a suitable repair mortar to prevent the liquid self-leveler from leaking through to rooms below. Finally, a manufacturer-approved primer must be applied uniformly across the entire subfloor surface and allowed to dry to proper tackiness, ensuring optimal adhesion and preventing air bubbles from ruining the finished pour.
