Pouring self-leveler directly over fresh, newly poured concrete is strongly discouraged because fresh concrete undergoes a prolonged curing and moisture-release process that can disrupt adhesion. New concrete slabs typically require a curing period of at least twenty-eight days to reach structural stability and allow internal moisture levels to drop sufficiently. If self-leveler is applied too soon, residual moisture vapor escaping from the curing slab can cause the self-leveling underlayment to bubble, crack, or completely delaminate. Always check moisture test results and consult manufacturer specifications before pouring over recent concrete.
