The AusCycling 4-week free trial is a free introductory membership offered by AusCycling to encourage new riders to try racing and organised riding without paying a full annual membership. It is available to anyone who has not held an AusCycling membership in the past three years and can be claimed once per person through the AusCycling website. The trial lasts for 28 days from activation and automatically expires, it does not auto-renew into a paid membership unless you choose to renew. What it covers is essentially the same insurance and riding benefits as a paid race membership for the trial period. It includes 24/7 personal accident insurance while riding a bicycle in Australia, covering non-Medicare medical expenses up to around $5,000 to $10,000, loss of income protection up to $500 per week after a waiting period, and capital benefits for death or permanent disability. It also includes third party public liability insurance up to $20 million if you injure someone else or damage property while riding. During the trial, you can participate in up to four AusCycling-affiliated club races, skills sessions, come-and-try days and community rides, and you can try any discipline including road, track, mountain bike, BMX and gravel. You cannot use the free trial to enter major state or national championships or UCI events. It is ideal for testing a local club before committing to the $99 to $380 annual fee.
