One day bike insurance for a bicycle in Australia is not commonly offered as a standalone product like one day car insurance. Most specialist bicycle insurers like Velosure, Cyclecover and BikeCover sell annual policies only, with a minimum 12-month term, although you can cancel early with a pro-rata refund minus fees. If you want cover for just one day, such as for an event, race or a hire bike, you have a few options. For events, many cycling events include personal accident and liability insurance in the entry fee through AusCycling or Bicycle Network day licences, which cost $15-$45 for a single day race licence, but this covers injury to you and damage to others, not theft or damage to your own bike. For hire bikes, companies like Lime, Neuron and local bike hire shops include basic liability cover in the hire fee and offer optional damage waivers for $5-$15 per day that reduce your liability if you damage the bike. Some home insurance policies already cover your bike for theft away from home for that one day at no extra daily cost. For travel, you can add a bicycle to travel insurance for a single day trip by paying a one-day travel insurance premium of about $20-$40. True one day comprehensive bicycle insurance for theft and crash damage does not really exist in Australia, the closest is Velosure which can be purchased for a minimum of one month if you call them, costing about 10-15% of the annual premium for one month.
