AusCycling insurance cost is included in your AusCycling membership or race licence fee, you cannot buy the insurance separately. AusCycling provides 24/7 personal accident and third party liability insurance for members as part of membership. As of 2025, the cost structure is as follows. For recreational riders, a Lifestyle Membership which includes non-competitive riding insurance costs around $99-$129 per year for adults. For racing, a Race All Discipline licence which includes comprehensive personal accident insurance covering you while training and racing, plus up to $20M third party liability, costs around $330-$380 per year for adults, $200-$250 for under 19s, and $110-$150 for juniors. A single discipline race licence, for example road only or BMX only, is cheaper at $220-$300 per year. For one-day events, you can buy a one-day race licence or event licence for $35-$55, which includes insurance cover for that event day only. The personal accident component provides benefits like non-Medicare medical expenses up to $5,000-$10,000, loss of income protection of up to $500 per week after a 7-day excess, and capital benefits for permanent injury. The third party liability cover protects you if you injure someone else or damage property while riding. Compared to standalone cycling insurance, AusCycling is good value because it bundles insurance with race entry eligibility, but it does not cover theft or damage to your own bike, you need separate bicycle insurance like Velosure for that.
