Holding down floor transition strips effectively depends on the type of strip and the subfloor material beneath it. For wooden subfloors, screws, nails, or pre-attached track systems provide the strongest mechanical hold. If you are gluing strips down to concrete or tile without drilling, heavy-duty construction adhesive, polyurethane adhesive, or high-strength double-sided carpet tape work exceptionally well. Many modern transition strips also come with peel-and-stick adhesive backings or snap-track mechanisms that make securing them over gaps between different flooring heights straightforward and clean.
