Installing T-molding begins by measuring the doorway or transition gap and cutting the T-molding piece to the exact required length using a miter saw. Next, secure the matching plastic or metal tracking channel to the subfloor centered in the expansion gap between the two flooring panels, either by screwing it down into wood or gluing it to concrete. Ensure that a proper expansion gap of at least one-quarter inch is left on both sides under the T-flanges. Finally, snap or tap the T-molding firmly down into the mounting track, verifying that it sits flush and allows the adjacent floating floors room to move.
