You can glue down T-molding directly to certain subfloors using heavy-duty construction adhesive, polyurethane adhesive, or specialized flooring glue, provided the installation conditions support it. However, gluing a T-molding directly across a floating floor expansion gap requires extreme caution to ensure the adhesive does not restrict the natural horizontal movement of the surrounding flooring, which could cause buckling. When installing over concrete, gluing down a dedicated plastic or metal mounting track first is the preferred method recommended by manufacturers.
