Ceramics are generally much stronger, tougher, and more impact-resistant than standard soda-lime glass, due to their crystalline or partially crystalline atomic structures that inhibit crack propagation. While glass is brittle and shatters easily upon minor impact, advanced technical ceramics and thick porcelain can withstand immense mechanical stress, high temperatures, and structural loads. However, everyday household ceramic dishware can still chip or break if dropped on hard stone or tile floors.
