Genuine ceramic plates manufactured entirely from natural inorganic earth, clay, and mineral glazes do not contain or shed microplastics, because they are made of non-plastic, non-metallic mineral compounds fired at high temperatures. However, microplastics can sometimes be introduced onto plates if users wash them with abrasive plastic scrubbers or store them inside synthetic plastic containers. Provided the ceramic tableware is authentic and free of plastic polymer coatings or resin binders, it remains completely free of microplastics.
