Ceramic is entirely different from plastic and shares no chemical or structural similarities. Plastics are synthetic organic polymers composed of long carbon-hydrogen chains derived from petroleum, characterized by flexibility, low melting points, and organic molecular structures. Ceramics are inorganic, non-metallic mineral compounds shaped from earth and clay, hardened through extreme heat, and characterized by rigidity, high melting points, and crystalline structures. They occupy completely opposite ends of the material science spectrum.
