Yes, BMW roadside assistance is free in Australia for new BMW cars and for cars under warranty and for cars serviced at BMW dealers, but there are conditions. When you buy a new BMW in Australia, you get BMW Roadside Assistance included free for 3 years with unlimited kilometres, regardless of where you service the car during that period. After the initial 3-year period, if you continue to service your BMW at an authorised BMW dealer, BMW extends roadside assistance for free for an additional 12 months after each scheduled service, effectively giving you ongoing free roadside assistance for as long as you maintain dealer servicing. This is called BMW Roadside Assistance Service Renewal and applies to most BMW models including 1 Series, 2 Series, 3 Series, X3, X5 and electric models like iX and i4. The free roadside assistance includes battery jump start, flat tyre assistance, lockout help, emergency fuel, towing to the nearest authorised BMW dealer, and additional benefits like hire car, accommodation and taxi if you break down more than 100km from home, similar to premium NRMA cover. If you service your BMW outside the dealer network at an independent workshop, you will not get the free renewal after the initial 3 years, and you would need to buy standalone roadside assistance from NRMA, RACV or an insurer. BMW Motorrad motorcycles also include similar free roadside assistance. So for BMW owners who service at BMW dealers, roadside assistance is effectively free for the life of the car.
