No, spiders do not try to hurt you, as most spiders are not aggressive toward humans and bite only in self defense when they feel threatened, trapped, or provoked, and most house spiders are harmless and beneficial. Spiders are predators that hunt insects, not humans, and they generally avoid humans, preferring dark, undisturbed areas like corners, basements, and closets. Bites occur rarely when spider is accidentally pressed against skin, such as when putting on clothes where spider hides, rolling over on spider in bed, or handling spider. Most spider bites cause only mild local reactions like redness, itching, and swelling similar to mosquito bite, not serious harm. Only a few species like black widow and brown recluse have venom that can cause medically significant symptoms, and even those spiders bite rarely and only when threatened. Spiders do not seek out humans to hurt them, they are more afraid of humans than we are of them, and they play beneficial role by eating pests like flies, mosquitoes, and cockroaches. So spiders do not try to hurt you, they try to avoid you, and bites are defensive, not predatory. If you find spider indoors, humane relocation by placing container over spider and sliding paper underneath and releasing outdoors is recommended rather than killing, and keeping home clean and sealing cracks reduces encounters.
