Will we ever run out of oil for gas is debated, but short answer is conventional easily accessible oil will eventually decline, but we are unlikely to completely run out in near future due to new discoveries, improved extraction, and transition to alternatives. Oil is finite fossil fuel formed over millions of years, so in theory it will run out if consumption continues, but proven reserves are large, estimated to last about 40 to 60 years at current consumption, and new reserves are found and extraction technology like fracking and deep water drilling expands recoverable oil. Also demand for gasoline may decline due to electric vehicles, renewable energy, and efficiency, reducing pressure. So we may never literally run out of oil, but oil will become harder and more expensive to extract, leading to higher prices and shift to alternatives. Peak oil theory predicted peak production, but technology delayed it. So while we will not run out of oil for gas in next few decades, long term we will need to transition away from oil as it depletes and for climate reasons. So answer is oil is finite and will eventually become uneconomical, but we are unlikely to run out completely soon due to reserves and alternatives.
