Yes, oil has been 100 dollars per barrel multiple times in history. Crude oil first reached 100 dollars per barrel in early 2008, during commodity boom, when WTI hit over 100 dollars in January 2008 and peaked around 147 dollars per barrel in July 2008, driven by strong demand and speculation. It again traded above 100 dollars from 2011 to 2014, with Brent and WTI staying above 100 for extended period due to strong global demand and supply concerns from Middle East unrest, peaking around 110 to 125 dollars. In 2022, after Russia invaded Ukraine, oil again surged above 100 dollars, with Brent reaching over 120 dollars and WTI over 110 dollars. So oil has been above 100 dollars per barrel several times, 2008, 2011 to 2014, and 2022, with all time high around 147 dollars for WTI in 2008. So yes, oil has been 100 dollars per barrel, and even higher, though it has also been much lower, even negative briefly in 2020 during pandemic when WTI went negative due to storage issues.
