A stuck or displaced contact lens will generally not dislodge or come out on its own if it becomes trapped underneath the upper eyelid or folded in the conjunctival sac. Leaving a trapped lens in the eye increases the risk of irritation, dryness, and microbial infection. If a lens is stuck, you should lubricate the eye thoroughly with sterile saline or rewetting drops, massage the eyelid gently, and carefully slide or blink the lens back onto the center of the cornea for safe removal.
