Yes, a wasp will chase you if you run, especially if you have disturbed its nest, because social wasps like yellow jackets and hornets defend their colony vigorously and perceive running person as continued threat that needs to be driven away from nest, though they will not chase indefinitely. When nest is disturbed, wasps release alarm pheromones that alert other wasps and cause them to become aggressive and chase intruder, and running triggers chase response as movement is detected. Wasps can fly faster than humans can run for short distances and can keep up for 50 to 100 meters or more, sometimes up to 300 feet, before stopping when they no longer see you as threat to nest. If you run, wasps will likely follow for a while, but they chase to drive you away from nest, not to hold grudge, so they will stop once you are far enough. Best strategy if chased by wasps is to run away quickly in straight line away from nest, do not swat or flail as this provokes more stings and spreads alarm pheromone, cover face and eyes, and seek shelter indoors or in car if possible, as wasps will eventually stop chasing when you are far from nest. If you are stung, move away quickly because venom contains alarm pheromone that attracts more wasps. So yes, wasps will chase if you run, but they stop when threat distance achieved.
