Yes, there are friendly wasps in sense that some wasp species are not aggressive toward humans and are beneficial, though all wasps can sting if threatened, so friendly means less aggressive and more docile. Many solitary wasps like mud dauber wasps and potter wasps are considered friendly because they are not aggressive, rarely sting humans, and are beneficial predators that hunt spiders and caterpillars, providing natural pest control, and they are solitary and do not defend nests aggressively. Paper wasps are generally less aggressive than yellow jackets and will usually ignore humans unless nest is disturbed. Even social wasps like yellow jackets are not inherently aggressive, they sting when defending nest or when provoked, but otherwise they are focused on foraging for food and can be observed peacefully. Some wasps like fig wasps are tiny and not aggressive at all and are essential pollinators. So while no wasp is friendly in sense of wanting to interact with humans like pet, some species are docile and beneficial, and they should not be killed indiscriminately because they control pest populations and pollinate plants. To coexist with friendly wasps, keep food covered outdoors, avoid swatting, and if nest is not near high traffic area, leave it alone, as wasps help garden. If nest poses danger near home, contact professional pest control for safe removal rather than killing wasps individually.
