The temperature sensor on your Whirlpool oven, also called oven sensor or RTD sensor, is located inside the oven cavity at the back wall, usually at the top left or top right corner. To find it on models like WFE550S0LZ, WFE775H0HZ, WOS72EC0HS, and WOS51EC0HS, open oven door and look inside oven at back wall, you will see a small metal probe about 3 to 6 inches long and about 1/4 inch thick with a bracket holding it to back wall and two wires going through back wall to control board. The sensor measures oven temperature and sends signal to control board to regulate heating elements. For Whirlpool wall ovens and ranges, sensor is at back wall inside. For Whirlpool double ovens, each oven has its own sensor at back of each cavity. To access and replace it, unplug oven or turn off breaker, remove oven racks, remove screws holding sensor bracket to back wall, pull sensor gently forward, disconnect wire harness connector, and remove. You can test sensor with multimeter: at room temperature 70 degrees it should read about 1080 ohms, if it reads infinite or far off, it has failed and costs 20 to 30 dollars to replace. A failed sensor causes inaccurate temperature, F3E0 or F3E1 error codes, or oven not heating. Always turn off power before working.
