You know your oven fuse or thermal fuse is blown when oven suddenly stops working, shows no heat, or display goes blank, and you can confirm with multimeter test. The oven has several fuses: thermal fuse on back of oven that blows when oven overheats due to blocked vent or failed fan, cutting power to control board for safety, and fuse in electrical panel for house. Symptoms of blown thermal fuse include oven not starting at all, no display, no heating even though breaker not tripped, and oven worked before self-clean cycle then stopped. For electric ovens, there is also fuse on control board that can blow. To check, first turn off breaker, unplug oven, pull oven away from wall, remove back panel with screwdriver, locate thermal fuse which is small rectangular device with two wires near back top, usually with temperature rating like 350 degrees. Visual check: if fuse looks discolored, blackened, or plastic melted, likely blown. Multimeter continuity test: set multimeter to continuity, disconnect wires from fuse, place probes on fuse terminals, if multimeter shows no continuity or infinite resistance, fuse is blown and needs replacement at 20 to 40 dollars. Also check house breaker: electric ovens use double breaker, if one tripped, oven may have power but no heat. Always replace fuse with same temperature rating and fix cause of overheating like blocked vent.
