Where is the filter in a top loader washing machine depends on brand and model, but generally in two places, lint filter inside drum and drain pump filter at bottom. For Samsung top load washers, magic filter or lint filter is located inside the drum at the top edge near the rim, you will see a small rectangular or oval plastic housing with mesh bag that pulls out, some models have two filters on opposite sides of drum near top. For LG top loaders, lint filter is inside drum near top or inside agitator. For Whirlpool and Maytag with agitator, filter is inside agitator cap or at top of agitator that pulls up. Drain pump filter for Samsung top loader is located at the back bottom of washer behind small panel near drain hose, you need to move washer forward, open rear panel, and you will see round filter knob near pump. For some models, filter is at front bottom behind access door similar to front loaders. To find your specific filter location, check user manual for your model number, look for magic filter, lint filter, or drain filter in parts diagram. Always unplug washer before cleaning filter.
