How to tell if your washing machine has a filter, most washing machines have at least one filter, but location varies by front load vs top load. For Samsung front load washer, filter is drain pump filter located at bottom front left or right behind small access panel or cover, you open panel and see round knob filter that traps lint, coins, and debris. For Samsung top load washer, filter may be magic filter or lint filter inside drum at top near rim or inside agitator, looks like mesh bag that collects lint, some newer models have self cleaning filter with no removable filter but have drain filter at back. Check your manual for filter location, search model number plus filter. Signs you have filter, small rectangular door at bottom front of front loader, or lint bag inside top loader drum. If you find water not draining or error code 5C, likely filter clogged indicating you have filter. Top loaders without removable filter still have drain pump screen inside. To find, look inside drum for mesh filter, look at front bottom panel for access door, and look at back for drain pump. If no access door, filter may be internal requiring service.
