Does a Samsung top load washer have a filter that needs to be cleaned, yes, Samsung top load washers have filters that need periodic cleaning to maintain performance and prevent odor and drainage issues. There are two types of filters, magic filter or lint filter and drain pump filter. Magic filter is located inside drum at top rim or inside near agitator, looks like mesh bag or box that collects lint and hair during wash, you should pull it out and clean lint after every wash or weekly, rinse under water. Some newer Samsung top load models have self cleaning filter that automatically collects lint but still benefits from cleaning. Drain pump filter is located at bottom back or front behind access panel, it traps coins, buttons, and debris, you should clean every 40 washes or when you see 5C or ND error, place towel, unscrew, drain water, remove debris. Additionally, water inlet filters at hose connection need cleaning if water fill slow. Not cleaning filters causes poor drainage, not spinning, odor, and UB unbalanced errors. Samsung manual recommends cleaning magic filter after each load and drain filter monthly. Regular filter cleaning extends washer life and keeps clothes cleaner.
