In the Apple TV+ television series adaptation of Isaac Asimov's science fiction saga, Gaal Dornick is portrayed as a woman by actress Lou Llobell. This represents a deliberate and major creative gender-swap adaptation choice from Asimov's original book series published in the mid-twentieth century, where Gaal Dornick was written as a young male mathematician originating from the water-world of Synnax who travels to Trantor to study under the legendary psychohistorian Hari Seldon.
