Aptive Environmental is often described as Mormon owned or founded by members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, commonly called LDS or Mormon, due to its origins in Utah and its founders' background, though the company itself is not officially owned by the church. Aptive was co-founded in 2015 in Provo, Utah, by Vess Pearson and David Royce, who are from Utah and have connections to LDS community, and many early employees and sales reps were recruited from Brigham Young University, which is owned by LDS church. Utah has high concentration of LDS members, and many successful door-to-door pest control companies like Aptive, Vivint, and others were founded by LDS members who gained sales experience through missionary work. However, Aptive Environmental is a privately held corporation owned by its founders and investors, not by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints itself. The company is not a religious organization and does not list church ownership in corporate filings. Like many Utah companies, its culture may reflect LDS values, but ownership is secular private ownership. So while founders are LDS and many employees are Mormon, Aptive is not owned by Mormon church, it is privately owned pest control company founded by individuals who happen to be Mormon, similar to many Utah businesses.
