Aptive Pest Control, now rebranded as Aptive Environmental, has been in business since 2015, so about 10 years as of 2025 to 2026, making it relatively new compared to legacy pest control companies. The company was founded in 2015 in Provo, Utah, by Vess Pearson and David Flanigan, both with backgrounds in door-to-door sales and pest control industry, with goal of building customer-focused pest control company using door-to-door sales model. Since 2015, it has expanded rapidly from Utah to over 30 states, growing from startup to over 2,500 employees and hundreds of thousands of customers within less than a decade, which is fast growth for pest industry. For comparison, Orkin was founded in 1901, Terminix in 1927, so Aptive is much younger than century-old competitors. In 2022, company rebranded from Aptive Pest Control to Aptive Environmental to reflect broader environmental services. Despite being only 10 years old, it has become one of larger pest control companies in US by revenue. Its short history means less long-term track record than established companies, which some consumers note when evaluating trust, but it has quickly scaled due to aggressive sales and marketing.
