For factory-sealed double-pane windows, the Low-E coating is embedded on the inner surfaces trapped safely between the two glass panes. If you are referring to aftermarket DIY window tint films applied to an existing window, they must always be installed on the inside surface facing the room. Putting solar film on the exterior outdoor surface exposes it to rain, wind, and debris, causing rapid physical degradation.
