Bed bugs do not typically go in your private parts or live in pubic hair like crab lice, because they are environmental pests that hide in mattress seams, box springs, headboards, and cracks, and only come to feed on exposed skin for 5 to 10 minutes at night then return to hiding, they do not burrow into skin or live on the body. However, they can bite any exposed skin during sleep, including skin near private parts if that area is exposed, such as inner thighs, buttocks, and groin area if you sleep without clothing, but they do not infest or live in private parts. Unlike pubic lice which cling to coarse hair, bed bugs do not cling to hair and do not live on humans. If you have bites in groin area, it is likely from bed bugs feeding on nearby exposed skin, not from them living there. They prefer to bite areas like arms, shoulders, neck, legs, and face that are exposed while sleeping. If you experience itching in private parts, it is more likely due to other causes like yeast infection, jock itch, or pubic lice, not bed bugs living there. Bed bugs do not transmit STIs. To prevent bites in any area, encase mattress and box spring in bed bug proof encasements, use interceptor traps, wash bedding on high heat, and contact professional pest control for treatment.
