Gorilla tape is famously strong, heavy-duty, and water-resistant, but using it to seal an active water leak on a pressurized pipe is generally a temporary and unreliable solution. While waterproof adhesive tapes can successfully patch minor drips on low-pressure, non-structural drainage pipes or outdoor garden hoses for a short time, they cannot withstand the continuous internal pressure of a home water supply line. The persistent force of pressurized water will eventually cause the tape to bubble, lift, and blow out, resulting in renewed leaking. For permanent and safe plumbing repairs, you must always replace damaged pipe sections, faulty gaskets, or broken fittings rather than relying on exterior adhesive tape.
