To temporarily stop a leaky pipe until a permanent repair can be executed, you can wrap specialized silicone self-fusing tape, heavy-duty rubber repair tape, or water-activated fiberglass resin wrap tightly around the damaged section. Self-fusing silicone tape works exceptionally well because it stretches tightly and bonds to itself without sticky adhesive, creating a stretchy, watertight seal that handles moderate water pressure. Alternatively, placing a piece of heavy rubber over the crack and securing it tightly with an adjustable metal hose clamp provides a strong mechanical temporary patch. These wraps buy valuable time, but they should never be relied upon as long-term solutions for pressurized lines.
