Your dishwasher can stop working all of a sudden for several common electrical, water supply, or safety reasons. The most frequent cause is a power interruption: a tripped circuit breaker, blown fuse, or loose connection under the sink where the dishwasher is hardwired or plugged into a garbage disposal outlet that was turned off. Check your electrical panel and reset the breaker. Second, the door latch not fully engaging will prevent starting, as the dishwasher thinks the door is open. Ensure racks are not blocking the door, the latch clicks firmly, and no food debris is stuck in the latch. Third, water supply issues: if the water shutoff valve under the sink was turned off during plumbing work or the inlet hose filter is clogged, the dishwasher will not fill and may stop with IE error. Fourth, drain blockage and leak protection: if the filter is clogged with food, the drain hose is kinked, or water leaked into the base pan triggering the AE or LE leak sensor, the dishwasher will stop and run the drain pump continuously to prevent flooding. Fifth, thermal fuse or control board failure from a power surge can cause sudden death with no lights. Also check if child lock is activated or the delay start was accidentally pressed. Cleaning the filter monthly and ensuring proper leveling prevents many sudden stops.
