To reset an LG dishwasher, you can perform a power reset and a cycle cancel that clears error codes, control lock, and temporary electronic glitches. The most effective method is a hard power reset: press the Power button to turn the dishwasher off, then turn off the circuit breaker that supplies the dishwasher in your electrical panel or unplug it if it has a power cord under the sink. Leave it off for at least 5 to 10 minutes to allow the main control board capacitors to fully discharge and clear memory. While it is off, press and hold the Start button for 5 seconds to drain residual charge. Turn the breaker back on or plug it back in, press Power, and try a new cycle. For cycle reset, press and hold the Start/Cancel button for 3 seconds to cancel the current cycle, the dishwasher will drain for about 2 minutes, then select a new cycle and press Start. To clear child lock, press and hold the Child Lock or Control Lock button for 3 seconds until the lock light turns off. For leak errors AE or LE, you must first remove standing water from the base pan by soaking with towels or tipping slightly, otherwise the drain pump will keep running. For OE drain error, clean the filter and drain hose before resetting. A reset will not fix mechanical failures like a failed drain pump or inlet valve but often clears temporary sensor errors after a power outage.
